I am very thankful for the opportunity to accompany a fast-growing German retail company on its cultural journey. In close and trustful collaboration with my client, I have the pleasure to facilitate the development of a vision, mission and values statement through the participation of all managers and employees. Since part of the process took place before the lockdown, we were able to go offsite for a creative workshop at the Baltic Sea and be inspired by a wonderful environment. And the journey is by far not over yet with various actions to be taken to shape and strengthen the company´s culture.
My new book “Digital Transformation in Business Practice” is available. In 20 articles from managers, consultants and scientists, specific opportunities and challenges of digital transformation in the business context are covered. Subjects are clustered in four main chapters: Mindset & Skillset, Leadership & Culture, Roles & Actors, and Technologies & Tools. To give decision-makers guidance on how to deal with digital transformation, each article ends with specific recommendations to overcome its challenges. Enjoy reading and feel invited to send me a feedback!
Finally, a semester with unexpected learnings has been completed. Due to the corona pandemic, my students and I were able to develop our growth and digital mindsets. Very quickly we moved to a webinar set-up and became aware of the opportunities offered by tools like Team, Webex and Zoom – with the latter to be my personal favourite. Still, to give lectures in presence is why I once chose the job of being a professor. Stay healthy and see you in the seminar room!
As an impact of the pandemic and due to the flexibility of my clients, I moved my trainings on change management for a technological market leader and several workshops to develop a vision, mission & values statement for the integrated management system of a large international corporation to the virtual space. For sure: presence and f2f communication in reality cannot be fully substituted. Still, tools like MS Teams and Webex – complemented by Miro, Mentimeter and others – offer a lot of features and functions that work great.
Since we received so much positive feedback on our first jointly edited book “Strategy and Transformation in the Digital Age”, my dear co-editor Markus H. Dahm and I decided to use the positive energy and go directly for the next book. “Digital Transformation in Business Practice” will be available in early spring 2020.
On January 30th, 50 of my Master students and I were invited by Google Hamburg for a full day to learn about the uniqueness and the success factors of the company´s culture and its own research on teams, leadership and OKR, amongst others.
On January 23rd, my master class on “Organisational Transformation” and I had the pleasure to be invited by Melanie Neeven and Julian Kupfer from Beiersdorf´s corporate communications department.
This fall, I developed and implemented a driver-based HR planning tool for a corporation from the transport and logistics industry in the middle east. The tool uses machine learning to calculate FTE budgets and further HR figures based on historical data and future projections.
I had the pleasure of being interviewed by “Profil”, the digital paper of the Bavarian Cooperative Association on how to engage people in change initiatives. Many thanks to “Profil” for the invitation!
